Daniel Rossen

You know when sometimes you just forget about something amazing ? Well, anyway, that happened to me with Grizzly Bear. At work the other day, with the radio on, I heard some particularly striking guitar lines and eerie early Beatles style harmonies- On further inspection I was informed 'Silent Song' was the work of a certain 'Daniel Rossen'. Who? I said to myself. And then after a hasty recourse to wiki ("guitarist with Grizzly Bear") the song's greatness became more explicable.

Grizzly Bear's  Yellow House is one of my all time favs and Rossen is responsible for (in my humble opinion) its best track - 'Knife'.There is a peculiarly unearthly sound to the Bear at their best. And indeed, 'Silent Song' sounds like it is being beamed in from a different planet.

Woozy, dark as hell and (psycho)delic with unusual chord/ tempo changes- it sounds like the work of an alien genius. Albeit one with an uncanny ability to play guitar.

There is an EP out in March. Another wondrous song to tide one over till then is also linked below.
